Phillippe Diederich is a freelance photographer, writer and educator. His photography has been published in national and international publications including Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Toronto Star, and U.S. News and World Report among many others.
His images have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums in both group and solo exhibitions, including the El Paso Art Museum and the Southeast Museum of Photography. He has won numerous awards for his photography, including an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Florida Department of Cultural Affairs in 1994.
His non-fiction and essays have been published in The Dallas Morning News, Sarasota Magazine, The Miami New Times, Cigar Aficionado and others. His fiction has been published in The Eckerd Review, The Houston Literary Review and Quarterly West.
His short stories have won an honorable mention in the 2008 Atlantic's Student Writing Competition and the Association of Writing Programs Intro-Journal award in 2011. His eBook, Communism and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which includes an essay and 40 black and white images is available for most tablets at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and iTunes.
Diederich was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Mexico City and Miami. He is fluent in Spanish. He has a BA in creative writing from Eckerd College. He currently teaches photography at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, and blogs about food and Latino issues for VOXXI.COM.
